 The project from the 1940s until the 1970s
 After the second world war, the heliotherapy centre activity having finished, the complex became the headquarters until 1973 of the Fondazione Don Gnocchi, created by Father (Don) Gnocchi to welcome orphans and children injured in war.
Yet again the structure, in order to meet different functions from previous ones, had to adapt its provisions to new requirements and to eliminate, or rather to reduce, the architectural barriers.
 After having won his battle in support of war-mutilated children Father Gnocchi also helped victims of polio and neurological disturbances. The structure therefore became a recovery clinic until 1973, when the activity moved to nearby buildings, where the Fondazione Don Gnocchi still works with its rehabilitation centre "Santa Maria dei Colli".
